Personal Update, Publishing Progress

1,000,000 KU Page Reads!

So, I was at work yesterday, so I was unable to post an update, but around 10:00 AM, I checked my numbers, and I had passed one million Kindle Unlimited page reads! Now, there are definitely other authors who do that pretty regularly, but I didn’t expect to pass that before having the book out for two months! It was super awesome to see!

In other news, I’ve been working diligently on Book 2 of Dynasty of Storms, and I’m closing in on 20k words. In Book 1, the chapters averaged 4400 words, whereas at this point in Book 2, I’m averaging closer to 5600 words. I’m going to aim for the same 25 chapters that I had last time, but the book itself should be closer to 140-150k words, rather than the 110k words that Book 1 came in at.

This time, I won’t be putting bits and pieces of it up online for review, no, instead, I’m going to contact my same group of beta readers to give it a once over and provide feedback to me. I’ve learned a LOT with this release, including what content I should or should not include (I got a significant amount of pushback about my sex scenes… oh well. You live and you learn, I suppose…), and I feel that I am bringing that experience to the table on next installment.

I’m literally counting the days until I no longer have to sell phones. I’ve got two calendar months before I’m done (at the end of July), but that translates to 27 work days, as I have a vacation planned in there to cover a trip my wife has to take for her business, as well as a few other days scheduled off. Once that happens, I am confident that I can “get into the groove” and do some serious writing. I’ll either need to brush up on my editing skills or find a professional editor, but I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it.

I plan on participating in NaNoWriMo again this year, since I skipped 2016 and didn’t finish in 2015, but THIS year, I’ll be able to devote all of my time to it. 50k words doesn’t seem like so much anymore.

I’m aiming for a Christmas season release this time, but my hard limit is by April of 2018. I don’t want more than a year to go by between releases, and I really think that I can get this done in that time, since I’ll no longer be contending with a day job for writing time.

In any case, here it is, 5:11 in the morning. I should either buckle down and start writing, or I should go back to bed.

As always, thanks for reading!
